How to use the online countdown timer

Pick a duration with the "Set Timer" fields — hours, minutes, and seconds — or skip straight to a common length with the "Quick presets" buttons below (1, 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes). Click "Start" and the ring around the display begins sweeping down to show, at a glance, how much of your set time remains. Not sure what an alert tone sounds like? Choose one from the dropdown and click "Test" for a short two-second preview before you start the real countdown.

While a timer is running you can hit "Pause" at any moment, and "Start" resumes it from exactly where it left off — the remaining time is tracked against the clock, not by counting ticks, so it stays accurate even if you step away and come back to the tab minutes later. "Reset" stops the countdown entirely and returns the display to whatever hours/minutes/seconds you have set in the fields above, ready to start again.

One handy feature: the countdown also appears in your browser tab's title, so you can check how much time is left without switching back to this tab. When the timer reaches zero, the display pulses and your chosen alert tone plays until you reset the timer — perfect for cooking, workouts, study sessions, or timed breaks.

Like every tool on this site, the timer runs entirely in your browser: once the page has loaded, it needs no internet connection to keep time or play its alert sound, and nothing you enter here is sent anywhere. Just keep this tab open (it doesn't need to be in the foreground) so the countdown can keep running and alert you when it's done.
